Here at the Digital Media Zone, we welcome the newest, hottest, and latest technology with open arms. We sure loove our internet, too. Most of our startups are involved in industries that exist completely in the virtual world.

Heck, the word digital is in our name!

Still though, we believe some things are best left to experience IRL. That’s internet-speak for “in real life,” meaning, um, not through a screen.

So that’s why we’re opening our doors and inviting you to come get a first-hand account of what makes our collaborative, thriving work culture so empowering for entrepreneurs, startups, and creative minds.

Hot off the heels of our third anniversary (!!!), we’ll be celebrating three years of DMZ expansion during the tour. Starting from one office at 10 Dundas St. E, we now occupy five floors and can’t wait to show you what we’ve done with it.

On Wednesday May 22, join us for a full tour of the new digs, come meet some of our entrepreneurs who will demo their latest projects, and see for yourself what goes on at one of Canada’s largest incubators.

Brett Wilson of Dragons’ Den Tours the DMZ

W. Brett Wilson is no stranger to the limelight and success. He’s a former Dragons’ Den co-star who now hosts Risky Business. Brett also achieved great financial success when he became one of Canada’s top investment bankers. Now, he’s written Redefining Success – Still Making Mistakes and is sharing his story with the world on how he earned incredible financial success all while losing his health, family and friends.

As someone so influential in the world of entrepreneurship, we were thrilled to host Brett as he toured the DMZ yesterday. Meeting with Debora Rubin of Ping Pong Story, Mattan Harel-Fisch and Jonathan Geva of CreativeRoom, and Daniel Warner of Smartslips, Brett offered pointers to the teams on how to perfect their pitches. He also handed out mementos of his appreciation – little erasers wrapped with the quote “still making mistakes” as a reminder that even he, with all his successes thus far, still makes mistakes sometimes.

Daniel, who pitched his former online business five years ago on Dragons’ Den, recounted his experience of meeting Brett again: “He’s a really sharp and genuine guy. I admire him because he’s successful both professionally and personally as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. He asks the tough questions… in the nicest way possible. He genuinely wants to understand your business and motivations. I felt like I was on Dragons’ Den… again.”

As a visiting entrepreneur from Israel and a fan of the Israeli version of Dragons’ Den, Johnathan didn’t recognize Brett at first, but “found him to be a really nice guy” who he hopes to one day see on Israeli television.
